The Weight of the Day — Stray Dogs of Nicaragua (Peta Kaplan)
A white dog stands with its head bowed low over a field of deep red, its whole body curved in quiet exhaustion — the posture of an animal that has walked a long way and expects to walk further.
An original oil painting by Peta Kaplan, from a series painted during the five years she and Ben made their home in the colonial city of Granada, Nicaragua.
The streets were full of strays, and Peta didn't only paint them — she cared for them, volunteering at the local clinic and serving on an emergency response team for animals that were wounded or abandoned. Printed on gallery-wrapped canvas with mirrored edges, ready to hang.
Part of the Green Global Trek collection — Stray Dogs of Nicaragua, painted on location in Granada.
