Photographs from the Silk Road cities of Uzbekistan — Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva — made during our 2026 travels in Central Asia.

What held Peta Kaplan's eye was the tilework: turquoise domes, vaulted prayer halls, gilded ceilings worked in a geometry that has kept its color for centuries. And alongside the monuments, the everyday details — the carved wooden bread stamps of Bukhara, a worn doorway, a minaret seen from the street.

The series is available as gallery-wrapped canvas, premium matte prints and canvas totes, with a 2027 wall calendar drawn from the same images.
