Inside, the tilework gives way to bare brick. Row upon row of pointed arches carry a ceiling of herringbone vaulting, each dome laid by hand in a spiral of sun-baked brick, a single shaft of light falling through to the stone floor. 

After the blaze of colour outside, these prayer halls are all restraint — warm, quiet, and built to hold cool air and silence through the desert heat. The geometry alone does the work.
