Stray Dogs of Nicaragua 2027 Wall Calendar — Paintings by Peta Kaplan
A 2027 wall calendar of twelve original oil paintings by Peta Kaplan, from a series painted during the five years she and Ben made their home in the colonial city of Granada, Nicaragua.
The streets were full of strays, and Peta didn't only paint them — she cared for them, volunteering at the local clinic and serving on an emergency response team for animals that were wounded or abandoned. The dogs in this calendar are dogs she knew. One of them, Teddy, appears twice.
Printed full-color on 250gsm coated silk paper, square format (8.5 x 8.5"), wire-bound and ready to hang.
Part of the Green Global Trek collection — Stray Dogs of Nicaragua, painted on location in Granada.
This calendar supports Global Strays: 25% of the profit from every copy goes to them, and five of its paintings, including the cover, were chosen by Global Strays.
Global Strays is a US nonprofit, founded in 2017 by Liz Shafiroff after she saw street animals suffering while travelling in Central America. It works beyond rescue: rather than running shelters of its own, it funds and supports local partners, paying for shelter care, spay and neuter campaigns and veterinary treatment, and it teaches children the Five Freedoms of animal welfare. It works in Nicaragua, where these paintings were made, and in Colombia and Liberia. You can learn more, or give to them directly, at globalstrays.org.
